Product Description
Designed for running in rugged terrain, this three quarter cut trail running shoe can hit the mud or the mountains, offering protection and durability, but not at the cost of weight or performance.Anti-lacebite pads, made from EVA, on the tongue resist lacebite, while Saucony's lightest version of ProGrid technology, 20% more responsive than EVA and continuing to provide great cushioning. The HRC Strobel Board increases cushioning and step-in comfort and the SSL EVA maximizes rebound and durability without increasing weight.The shoe also features Sauc-Dry, a water resistant membrane that allows the shoe to be breathable, letting moisture out, all the while managing to keep rain and water from outside getting in.The Outlaw is gaiter compatible, has a gusset tongue and a premium sockliner. The outer part of the shoe features XT-900, a carbon rubber outsole material that gives incredible traction as well as being supremely durable.

Much Less Than Expected

I was highly anticipating these because I've been waiting for a trail running shoe that has a higher ankle, as I've been on some trails that are sufficiently uneven with highly varied terrain (rocky/pitted), and my ankle gave way to the side--no breaks but some strains, caught in time to not twist or sprain. Well, my anticipation was positively high since one of my two favorite pair of trail running shoes of all time was a pair of Saucony shoes - actually a pair of men's blue, yellow and grey Omni Pro Grid (I believe that was the model). Yet, when I got these women's progrid shoes with the high ankle, I was extremely disappointed. I've taken a good amount of time to review since buying, to really give them a go. I'm more disappointed every tie I take them out. What I think Saucony must have done was bank on the fact that people would be so excited by the new high ankle feature that they maybe thought that feature would sell the shoe itself, so they could sacrifice on everything else. These shoes feel so flat and hard to me - absolutely no cushion-feel at all when I hit the ground. Support feels weak. Traction on bottom seems the only thing, in addition to the high ankle that's decent, but they never gets tested because the shoes are just not comfortable enough to wear, leaving all the shock felt in my knees ankles feet, rather than the shoe's sole. So now, I only wear them as an alternative to wearing my heels to work, but then people think they look cool and ask me about them and I don't want any fellow runners out there to waste money so I just wear them around the house gardening. Waste of my money.Now the men's Saucony Omni grid (circa 2009ish) i mentioned--that shoe was so stable feeling and cushioned, yet with awesome support for my pronation and traction for the trails . . . well, I haven't found a shoe to match since. I don't know why they have to mess with a good thing or change the name so I can't find the same model next year. I get so mad when brands change perfectly awesome models every year! (BTW, the other favorite shoe was an Addidas men's trail runner in black and yellow and asphalt back in the early 2000's . . . wish I'd have bought several pairs of each back then).

Great Shoe!!

My husband ordered these shoes from another website, but they didn't have my size. They cost a little bit more on Amazon, but they are the greatest shoes ever. They just hug your feet and they are good for trail running. I am getting ready for a military competition, so these will be perfect!!

Fashionable but not functional, has design flaws

I have several Saucony active shoes so expected a similar model. However, compared to the others, this one is lacking in both support and design features. It's VERY lightweight (yes, I fell for the color!) and offers little to no ankle support. Which is sad, because I think if anyone could make such a shoe, it would be Saucony. Next, getting into these shoes is not easy. There's a black insert at the back of the heel that COULD BE useful if it had a loop. It does not. So what you need to do is hold onto the insert as you're pulling on the shoe. The third thing is the laces are too short, they barely tie. It's a comfortable shoe but I would NOT run in it. Saucony, are you listening? Please put together a nice SUPPORTIVE MID-CUT ANKLE shoe!
