Heel cup is too low

I love Salomon shoes. In fact, this is about my 8th pair of Salomon's - I haven't worn any other sneakers for almost 10 years. But this pair does not fit me at all. They made the heel cup much shallower than in other models for some reason. As a result, my heel slides up and down in the shoe with every step. It feels like my heel is going to come out of the shoe if I walk vigorously (I haven't even tried running in them). I have custom orthotics, so I remove the factory insoles and put mine in. My insoles are a little thicker than the factory ones, so that is contributing to the problem somewhat. However, all of my previous Salomon shoes have fit well with my custom inserts. Unfortunately, because I assumed they would fit, I threw out the receipt and packaging so I can't return them.
